The WDSF Academy is pleased to announce an online dance contest, “JUST DANCE”, which is also part of a research study in conjunction with researchers from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education.

What is the purpose of the contest?
The objective of this project is to encourage DanceSport athletes around the world to continue staying engaged with their sport. Additionally, researchers from Stanford University hope to do a small research study on the well-being and motivation of dancers.

Who is it for?
The contest is for dancers of all DanceSport disciplines, ages, and levels. Athletes can participate as a solo or couple, and can participate from home. We strongly encourage formation team dancers to participate as a solo or as a couple.

What is the procedure?
DanceSport athletes will fill in a 10 minute survey in the link below, answering simple questions about their experiences as a dancer. Then, they will be given instructions on what to film for the 1 minute dance video. Ultimately, there is no restriction on dance style as the project encourages dancers to be free to choreograph their dance. Then, athletes will be emailed a second form to submit their video and answer a few questions about their experiences. All survey responses are kept strictly confidential.

What are the prizes?
There will be 2 grand winners and 2 runners-up winners. The prizes include cash prizes (200 Euros or 100 Euros) or free online private lessons with WDSF World Champions, and free dance costumes or practice wear from Kostumer group.

Are there fees?
No, there is no entry fee for this contest.

When should we participate?
We encourage you to participate as soon as possible, as our preliminary deadline is 8 June 2020 for the video submissions. We plan to announce the results on 20 June 2020.

We hope that you can participate. Keep dancing, and wishing you good health!
